WHO IS REDBEARD ?
A professional radio host , musician interviewer , weekly nationally-syndicated documentary writer/ producer ,and music producer for nearly four decades , Redbeard is the host of In The Studio, the hour- long weekly rock star interview radio show heard on over fifty stations (www.inthestudio.net). Now in its twenty-third consecutive year , In The Studio is produced and distributed by Redbeard’s Barbarosa Ltd. Productions .
Redbeard was a top-rated Program Director and internationally-known on-air radio personality in Memphis 1978-1983 and Dallas/Ft. Worth 1984-1998 . As one of the original “Dirty Dozen” Program Directors hired , Redbeard pioneered XM Satellite Radio as the first afternoon host of “Deep Tracks XM-40” from September 2001 through June 2002 . In 2007-2008 Redbeard hosted afternoons on Lone Star 92.5/KZPS in Dallas/Ft. Worth , a unique Texas regional rock/Americana hybrid that featured no recorded commercials.
Redbeard has been recognized many times both inside and outside the broadcast industry . He’s a Billboard magazine Major Market Music Director of the Year award winner (1992); industry trade publication Friday Morning Quarterback Music Director of the Decade 1980-1990 (1st runner-up); Dallas Observer “Best of Dallas” winner in three successive decades, including 2007 ; and Redbeard solely represents both Dallas/Ft. Worth and Memphis in the permanent radio exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Redbeard currently serves as a Director on the Boards of two non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organizations: Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project (www.spayneuternet.org) which provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to reduce pet overpopulation & suffering in rural East Texas ; and Visible Music College (www.visible.edu) of Memphis TN .Redbeard is a voting member of NARAS (The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) Memphis Chapter and a past Governor on their Board (www.grammy.com) ; the National Corvette Restorer Society(www.ncrs.org) Texas Chapter ; a patron member of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Ft. Worth ; and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Kaufman TX where he is a Trustee & volunteers to run the sound for worship services each week .
Redbeard and his wife celebrated their 22nd anniversary in 2010 on their 150-acre horse ranch outside Dallas Texas USA with numerous stray dogs , cats , and a dozen horses .
